Facebook friends

Some of my friends shared some really good quotes today on Facebook from Status Shuffle. What better place to keep them than here?
Ann Allred Bull
Happiness cannot be traveled to, owned, earned, worn or consumed. Happiness is the spiritual experience of living every minute with love, grace and gratitude

James Carter
Best friends are like rainbows, sometimes you can only see them from a distance but they have this way of always making you smile.

Tonya Christensen
The 3 C's of life: choices, chances and changes ~ You must make a choice to take a chance or your life will never change.

Shari Larsen
Worrying doesn't seem to help anything...so why can't I stop...

Vickie Green Jarvis shared this from a friend on the supposed end of the world today
Stephen Sondheim sums up today so well....
It's the last midnight.
It's the last wish.
It's the last midnight,
Soon it will be boom-
Squish!
Told a little lie,
Stole a little gold,
Broke a little vow,
Did you? …
Nothing we can do now.

Priorities

Today in the library there was a paper with these three quotes on them. Instead of taking the page or making a Xerox copy of it so I'd have another piece of paper floating around my house or car, I copied them by hand on the back of an old program.

This is an interesting thought. Sometimes we make our habits without even trying to.
First we make our habits,
Then our habits make us.
I like this quote from Elder Oaks. Mother has always said we can afford what we want to afford.
Let us remember that desires dictate our priorities. Priorities shape our choices & choices determine our actions.
Elder Dallin H. Oaks - Conferece address, April 2011
And finally,
Unless a man shall endure to the end, in following the example of the Son of the living God, he cannot be saved.
~ 2 Nephi 31:16

New quotes

I've been following Gene & Pauline Esplin's blog, "Called to Serve." They are serving as humanitarian missionaries in the New Delhi Mission. It includes the northern portion of India, Nepal, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Bhutan. They are in Kathmandu. Pauline posted this quote & I liked it, so I snagged it.
"A mind that is stretched by a new experience can never go back to its old dimensions."
~ Oliver Wendell Holmes, Jr.
I finished reading the Institute of Religion's Old Testament: 1 Kings - Malachi Student Manual (Religion 302) tonight & snagged some thoughts from Chapter 35 for my scripture journal.
“I am convinced that each of us, at some time in our lives, must discover the scriptures for ourselves — and not just discover them once, but rediscover them again and again"
~ President Spencer W. Kimball
I found this to be true when reading the OT & again when reading the BOM this year, after just reading it last year.

Elder Bruce R. McConkie taught:
“. . . It is not reading alone; it is reading, pondering, and praying so that the Spirit of the Almighty gets involved in the study and gives understanding.”
~ “Drink from the Fountain,” Ensign, Apr. 1975, pp. 70–71
